How can I use my Soldering Iron Safely?

Post by davidakhihiero »

I bought the ATTEN 65-Watt Soldering Iron With Digital Adjustable Temperature - ST-2065D soldering iron but it appears to be designed for 110V/60Hz and the voltage in my country is about 220V/50Hz. What can I do?

I take it from your post that you are not in North America. A 220/50Hz to 120/60Hz adaptor might cost as much as a new iron. In general, things that plug in the wall are best purchased in your own region so that you know it will be compatible with your local mains power.

You may be in luck, though. According to the manual for your iron (http://www.BANNED/u_file/manual/st-2 ... manual.pdf), it's rated for 120/240VAC. It doesn't say anything about frequency, but voltage is usually more of an issue. So you may be able to get away with just a plug adapter. Contacting ATTEN and confirming would be advised: http://www.BANNED/contact/.
