TS80P PID:4244

Post by DaveDice »

I just received a TS80P soldering iron. Interestingly, the seals on the box were broken, btw. When I power it up, it just loops and resets when I try to set the temperature. It also never heats up. If I connect to a Macbook pro USB-C power supply (also using the supplied cable from the box), then it appears to work correctly, so I'd like to arrange for a replacement.

Thanks, -Dave

Would you mind booting up the iron and letting us know the firmware number. You could upgrade it yourself, but since the box was open and the iron is not working I don't expect you to do that. Just curious what the shipping firmware is as the current release is v1.0.7. it should say the firmware version upon startup.

Also the iron appears to prefer 9v @ 2A power supplies according to their PDF. There is a mention about resetting due to power supply issues in the troubleshooting guide.

This is the TS80P, and it reports version 1.27 when it boots up. I'm using the USB-C power supply that was boxed with the soldering iron.
