The Adafruit USB microscope (636) is listed under "Tools" on your website. I found no other place to post a question about it.
I would like to use it as a portable device "in-the-field." What is the lightest weight computer portable device that is compatible with this device. It would need sufficient battery power to run the LEDs for at least an hour or two. An Apple support person suggested a Windows 10 tablet computer. He concluded that an iPhone or iPad would not work. Open-minded chap, wasn't he?
thanks

I didn't know the iPhone had a USB port. You could use a tablet or perhaps build up a Raspberry Pi to be portable and use that but I don't know if drivers are available for Linux.
