I plan to run kodi on my pi with a 2.5 sata drive attached via usb. I have found a couple of cables to do so, one comes with a power supply the other is powered via usb. The only usb devices that will be attached are the HDD and occasionally a mouse and keyboard.
My questions are will the PI be able to power the drive on its own? If not, I am trying to limit the number of cords going to the box to one power cord and one HDMI cord. Is there a way to have a small circuit board that would run 2 5v rails? One to power the pi and the other the HDD?
