6v to 12v conversion

by ar244202 on Tue Sep 05, 2017 4:38 pm

I am working on creating an RF switch that will activate a solenoid valve to shoot a blast of air from a CO2 cartridge. I ordered the M4 receiver and RF remote control. From what I can tell this device works best with under 6 volts of power; however, the solenoid that I need uses 12 volts to activate. What is the best way to increase my voltage from the RF module bread board to the solenoid valve?

www.pololu.com has a wide range of voltage converters. https://www.pololu.com/category/132/ste ... regulators

But voltage boosting is less efficient than buck regulation. You would probably be better off starting with a 12v supply and regulating that down to 5v with a UBEC for the receiver: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1385
