Best Platform For Semi Industrial Test Setup

by luke22344 on Sun Sep 10, 2017 3:36 pm

Hello,

I recently graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and got a job at a wire harness manufacturing factory. I enjoy my job and came up with some ideas to improve production involving automated continuity, resistance, and capacitance tests. I know how I would implement the project with an Arduino uno, small LCD and some basic circuits but I am slightly concerned with its reliability as needing to refresh the system. I would greatly appreciate any advice. I know the Arduino platform is primarily used for prototyping but I was hoping you could lead me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Luke Marshall

If you plan to use Atmel (Microchip) products the Arduino Uno would be a good place to start. Once you get the project working you can build a custom board and use the bare processor without the overhead of the bootloader. This will make your product faster and more robust.
