Solar Powered FONA 808

by uniquetrio2000 on Thu Jan 14, 2016 12:09 am

I got the FONA 808 and i want to use it for GPS tracking but it will not be connected to power so i wanted to power it with a solar panel and a battery. Im not sure the best way to accomplish this. I have purchased a 2500mAh lipo battery and the medium sized solar panel, but from what i have read in the forums it may not be a good idea to use the "USB / DC / Solar Lithium Ion/Polymer charger - v2", however none of the post i read talked specifically about my projects. Could you please provide some guidance?

Thanks

The problem is that the solar charger doesn't have a 5V regulator. You get solar-panel voltage out of the LOAD port.

However, that charger has battery output pins. Just run wires from the BAT and GND on the charger to BAT and GND on the Fona.
