Re: Ambilight Project needs some assistance.
Got my strand the day before yesterday, hooked it up and got it working.
25 LEDs is not enough for a 55" tv, it is however for a spare 32" tv I had lying around. I got it working, and the latency is not visible at all! Very cool! Also, i got a few clips that worked great with the set up, so I will be uploading a couple of clips tonight when it's dark. (2 hours or so)
I'll be ordering a second strand when they become available. I'll connect it up to my 55" tv, so there's a lot to look out for

Pictures really don't do it justice, it's the fact that your wall color is changing with what's on screen is what really sells the effect! The videos are uploading, but i could take a few hours to complete. Even then, the videos don't really do it justice, seeing it live is really mind blowing. Video makes the white look to blue and yellow too white :S Spots are better visible on video than watching it in person.
After watching the videos I noticed some lag, but it not really noticeable when watching a video. I'll post a link when the video's done.

Metallic Wall paint behind monitor, still there's more light IRL than how it looks from the videos...

Yes, in real life they do look white. I've got my whole house filled with led spots, strips and gadget, but these LEDs have got the best color accuracy and saturation I've seen. The colorswirl looks really cool.
One thing I miss though: no way to turn the LEDs off. When communication stops, the LEDs stay the color they were last...

Dude. Duuude! I'm blown away. Especially the light saber battle...when the tips go right off the edges of the screen...that was unexpected, to say the least.
I'm really pleased to see folks' enthusiasm for this stuff...and a little embarrassed now to have used cardboard and tape when putting together the demo rig. Had thought it was going to be a quick-and-dirty little project idea and not on permanent display.
That's awesome!

Re: Ambilight Project needs some assistance.
Thanks, Phil! And thank you, once again for making this possible! I would have never had such a set up if it wasn't for you.
Next step is ordering 25 more and realizing 'on the big screen'
Also, the lights really have a distinct spot, which isn't really what i was looking for. I think this has mostly to do with the fact that the monitor was placed in front of a metallic paint wall. At first i thought it would help with the brightness, but the spots are really too distinguishable...
Also I think i'm going to program a 'start up sequence', wehere the LED's turn red one by one, then green, then blue, white, and then fade out and the ADAlight magic begins
If you guys want i can upload more. Just let me know if you have a good scene that will show the colors even better

That's a good idea, we will add a little 'test startup' to help people verify wiring!
