NeoPixel Strip Connection Issues First Light Blue

by ellarose on Thu Dec 06, 2018 1:56 pm

So I have previously got this strip working, but after putting it in my bag the wires connecting to the NeoPixel Strand snapped

I tried un-soldering the remainder of the previous connection off the Neopixel, which I think I did alright. I then cut the wires and re-soldered them on. I tried running the strand test and it doesn't work (changed it to RGBW etc.). I also tried running my own code which is also used to create a rainbow, and the first LED dimly shines blue.

Baring in mind that this previously worked before I put it in my bag.

Are my connections off, does anyone know what this might mean?

Here is my soldering on the breadboard but I don't think this is the problem
Ignore the reminisce of glue, I tried glue gunning the wires in places so they didn't snap after soldering but had to take it off to look at my wiring.

Your soldering on the NeoPixel stick itself looks OK. You're on the correct end of the stick (DIN) and soldered to the correct pads.

The soldering on the other boards look a little cold solder though. I'm not sure how that board comes into play for the NeoPixel stick. Do you have any way to wire the NeoPixel stick to something like an UNO for testing?
