Adafruit NeoPixel Digital RGB LED Strip 144 LED - 1m White -

I rigged four of these up driven by a Raspberry Pi ZeroW with a level shifter. It works well and it's very pretty but ... they're not as bright (aka ouch my eye) as I expected from my experience with the neopixel sticks and matrices. Near as I can tell the leds are the same or at least similar. Wondering if it's the silicon casing. Thoughts?

First, did you set the brightness to max? If you did, then it's probaby because of the silicon casing. Also, what's the amperage of the power supply powering them?

That's a 5V 30A power supply.

Just chiming in since I have the same strip, but is the color order RGBW or GRBW?

With the bare pixels on the sticks and matrices you are looking right at the silicon die so the light is super intense - especially when viewed on-axis. The casing does diffuse the light quite a bit, so it will appear less bright.

Got it, thanks. Going for super intense so I'm going to rethink how I can mount them without the silicon casing.
