Adafruit PiTFT 2.2" Only Displaying White Screen

Hi there,

I recently purchased a 2.2" PiTFT, and I've not been able to get it to display anything other than a white screen.
I don't think it's the soldering as I've inspected it all with a magnifying glass to make sure the coverage is okay and touched up anywhere that looked a little thin.
I went through the installer script many times on many fresh installs and even tried many different versions of Raspbian, and two different Raspberry Pis, but to no avail.
I have also looked through a lot of forum posts with the same issue but I haven't been able to find any solution from any of them.
Having contacted the Pi Hut who I bought it from they informed me that I had to raise an issue here before I could get any refund or replacement.
I'm willing to try any suggestions you might have, but I think I've already tried everything possible!

Let's double check the soldering. Please post a photo showing the soldering job on the GPIO header.

Thanks. A little hard to tell for sure, but generally looks OK.

When you ran the install script:

Did you use the single command line option? Or did you run it interactively?

I've done it both ways on fresh installations with no success unfortunately

Hello, I'd like to check to make sure it's not our installer causing the problem or that Raspberry Pi didn't change something.

Which version or versions of the Raspberry Pi OS did you try?
Which settings did you choose for the installer?

Hi there,

I selected 2.2", Landscape Orientation and HDMI mirror, and then the same with Console output. And for each of these options I've tried it with the most recent version of Raspbian and the December 2020 version. None of them give anything other than the same white screen

Thank you, I'll let you know if I'm able to reproduce the issue or not.

Using the latest Raspberry Pi OS Desktop and the settings you described, I wasn't able to reproduce the issue. We just wanted to be sure that you wouldn't experience the same issue on a new display.

lets try replacing it. altho tbh we're not sure its hardware. please email support@adafruit for a new 2.2" tft
