PITFT 2.2 Does not work!

Post by doomer170 »

I'm making a gameboy zero, I followed the instructions on your site very closely, the screen lights up but nothing shows up on screen. My soldering joints are just about perfect as well. I am certain I recieved a defective screen.

Which specific guide are you following?

Can you post a photo of your build showing the soldering connections between the Pi Zero and TFT.

Thanks for the photo. Can't tell for sure if all pins are good from that angle. But let's try some software things first. What OS image were you starting with?

I used the latest version of Retro pie from https://retropie.org.uk/download/
I of course chose the download for Raspberry Pi Zero. From there I followed the instructions at:
https://learn.adafruit.com/running-open ... itft-setup

After failing to get any display on the PiTFT 2.2 I formatted my SD card and Flashed retropie again with Balena Etcher and started over, following the instructions VERY closely, and I have repeated all of that about 5 times now before finally consulting you guys here on adafruit.

Are you at least getting the back light on the TFT to come on?

Can you post another photo more at 45def angle of the soldering.

Yes the back light was coming on all along, I've got GOOD NEWS, it was the ribbon cable on the back of the screen, I ran my soldering iron across it to reflow the solder and the screen works now! Thank god! I appreciate your time and effort trying to help me out.
