Bad display

by Emneumann on Wed Aug 04, 2021 1:00 pm

I just purchased and assembled a 772 16x2 display w/ shield kit and the bottom row of pixels isn’t working (see photo). I need a replacement for the display but not necessarily the shield.

My order confirmation was 2621915-6089962467

Looking at the phot I posted, I can see why the bottom row is bad. There is a crack in the display. The display worked initially even though the crack was already there(see phot). I did not put any undue pressure on it nor have I dropped it. I can only assume it arrived this way.

Hmm, yah, maybe shipping damage? Just to be sure, it sounds like if we sent you one of these:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/181
you'd be OK swapping out the display?

Yes, that would be fine but store credit would be even better because I didn’t know how long a response would take so I have ordered a replacement plus one (2) already since I have a deadline. Either way is fine and I’ll be happy to ship out the bad unit when I have another in hand if you need it.

Thanks for the fast response,
Eric

OK, I'll let customer support (forums are tech support) see what options they have for you. Send an email to support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread and your order number. They can send you a new PID 181 display to replace the one that came with your PID 772 kit. But you can also work with them on other options.
