LED pixel boards

by Rbosco on Mon Sep 20, 2021 6:18 pm

I purchased 3 64x32 led boards to work with a matrix. I realized after that I need 6 in total. Is this supported by the matrix hat? I also have a meanwell 5V 40amp power supply. Can I use that to power it all?

Just to be sure, you are using one of these?

There's some info here on estimating power requirements:

Yes. I have the Adafruit RGB Matrix HAT + RTC for Raspberry Pi - Mini Kit

My question is if this can support 6 32X64 panels. I am curious of the ability to drive it as well as power it. It was mentioned that up to 128 was the max but I am just checking.

Yes, should be doable. Here's an example with 12 panels. It took some tuning, but was eventually able to get things to work:

Ok and those are 64x32? What version is the pi running it? It also looks like they are independently powered. I have a 5V 40 amp power supply. Do I wire the panels to that and provide a separate power supply to the RGB Hat?

I am trying to build an arcade marquee. Can this run on the same Pi that is running emulation or too much?
