USB / DC / Solar Lithium Ion/Polymer charger - v2

Recently purchased this item Adafruit Micro Lipo - USB LiIon/LiPoly charger - v1 https://www.adafruit.com/product/1304
" When the battery is fully charged and ready for use, the green LED turns on. Seriously, it could not get more easy."

Except it stays red all day and never goes to green. tried on both a small and large LiPo, purchaed from Adaruit.

Any reason?

Which LiPo cells are you attempting to charge with it?

LiPo 3.7v, one is 150 mA and the other is a 1500 mA. The 150 actually seems to show a "done green ligght", but the bigger one didn't after a day.

Also, Is there a safe procedure for putting 3 LiPo 3.7V in series to power a 9V device?

The Micro LiPo charger is designed for charging smaller cells, so it has a low charge rate. The 1500mA cell will take at least 10 times longer than the 150mA cell.

We do not recommend wiring cells in series. Small manufacturing variations can result in large imbalances in use. If you need a higher voltage pack, we recommend that you purchase one pre-made with factory matched and balanced cells.

Using the micro-lipo with solar adds another level of inefficiency. The variable nature of solar power means that in marginal conditions, the charger will drop in and out of charging mode. And whenever it does that, it starts over at the beginning with the pre-conditioning phase. The solar charger is optimized for use with solar panels. It is able to make more efficient use of the power available from a solar panel.
