LED display for a costume

Hello

I need a bit of help as I can't figure out which LED would be best to suit my needs.

I want a LED kit that has two rows of red LED's. About 10 LEDS a row stacked on each other
ROW 1 0000000000
ROW 2 0000000000

I would like to be able to have the LEDS in a few different patterns that I can push a button for pattern 1, pattern 2, pattern 3 etc....

Any advice to get me started? Would two neopixel sticks be my best bet?

Something like NeoPixels would be a good option. They are individually addressable and so creating the different patterns is just a matter of software.
