Wireless not working on RPZW when installing images provided

by aleks313 on Sun Oct 01, 2017 1:09 pm

I have a Raspberry Pi Zero W and I bought a 2.8 PiTFT (#1601). I tried installing the lite version of raspbian jessie (provided in the Easy Install guide) and the full version. In both versions I can access the Pi via ssh but when I do ifconfig -a it doesn't show wlan0. I installed the newest version of Raspbian and it worked perfectly, I connected to my wifi without problems but then I couldn't install the kernel for the PiTFT and I read on a post on this forum that the latest version of Raspbian (Stretch) doesn't work well with the display.

How do I enable wlan0 ? I already configured wpa_supplicant.conf to contain the ssid and the password for the wifi

You might have already tried this, but, does that OS version have the same raspi-config tool included? Is there any setting in there that might affect the wifi?

we spent a bunch of time and fixed a lot of stuff and made it faster too!
try this on a fresh Stretch (don't install our kernel) :)

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
# cd ~
# wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/adafruit/Adafruit-PiTFT-Helper/master/adafruit-pitft-helper2.sh
# chmod +x adafruit-pitft-helper2.sh
# sudo ./adafruit-pitft-helper2.sh
