Defective 2.2" TFT LCD Display

by dibellam on Sat Oct 07, 2017 8:11 pm

Hello,

A few weeks ago I purchased the Adafruit 2.2" TFT LCD color display to incorporate into an Arduino project. When I was first prototyping the project, the LCD screen worked fine. However, now it will not light up. I know the project is working, because the speaker plays the correct sounds as it should and I triple checked all of our connections from the screen to the protoboard to the Arduino and back. If you turn the game on and press the screen together (one finger on the display, one on the back) it will light up and show the game, but it stops when you release the pressure. I think the screen of the display is loose from the actual display, and this is why it's not lighting up at all.

Is there any way to fix this? I have to present this project on Monday, October 9, and also on Wednesday, October 18. I know it is not possible to get a new screen by the 9th, but is there any way you could please send me one as soon as possible?

Thank you,

Can you post some pictures of your connections and soldering so we can take a look?

Here are some pictures. We have done continuity tests on this entire portion of the board: we checked continuity from the pins on the screen to the blue end of the wires on the protoboard, then from the blue end to yellow end, and from the yellow end to the resistors. Everything seems fine, except the screen only works when you apply pressure to it.

We put limiting resistors in line with the screen for protection.

Sorry, I can't tell anything from the photos.

Yes, but all of our connections are good, we checked multiple times. The screen and the entire game works only when we apply pressure to the display and board, so the display must be loose from the board. Is there any way you could please send us a new screen?
