PiTFT White Screen of Death

Hello,

I recently purchased the Pigrrl Zero kit from Adafruit which included the Pi Zero and PiTFT. After assembling all the components following the Adafruit tutorial, I powered up the Pi with the image provided by Adafruit which supports the screen (https://adafruit-download.s3.amazonaws. ... 160912.zip) but all I get is the white screen. The green light on the Pi is blinking so it seems that its doing something. I have also tried different images with no luck. I am attaching some images of my soldering joints since I am not too proficient in soldering. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.

Update: From what I have been reading on these forums, there seems to be a batch of bad TFTs floating around in these Pigrrl Zero kits which lead to the white screen. I've resoldered the joints and removed all the wiring except for the Powerboost with no luck.

Since the last post, I have removed all the solder and resoldered all the joints. Also I did the PiTFT install seen here: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-2-2 ... i?view=all. No luck. Any suggestions from Tech Support?

OK, here's the deal. Since I have not heard anything from customer support, I went ahead and resoldered the joints once again with no luck. I decided to start over and re-purchased the PiTFT and Pi Zero W from Adafruit. Now, the TFT works as expected but the USB port and wireless are not functioning. I know this because with the same setup, the previous Pi Zero build recognized the keyboard and the wireless network with no problem. Therefore, the original TFT was defective and now the recent Pi Zero is a no go. This will be the last time I will purchase anything from Adafuit since they do not seem to acknowledge an obvious problem.

I'm having the exact same problem (my post). I saw that you eventually heard back from Customer Support. Were you successful in getting a replacement?
I'm going to send them an email and I hope to hear back soon.

I hope you were eventually able to get your PiGRRL Zero up and running!

Yes I eventually received the replacement but sadly, I have not had success with this project. I soldered the replacement PiTFT to a presoldered Pi Zero (which I tested the ports beforehand) and managed to boot into Retropie once. The USB worked fine but the WiFi was not working (there are multiple threads of how the PiTFT kills the wifi on the Pi Zero). After a reboot, I got the white screen and was never able to replicate the PiTFT functioning after the first try. I even used different Retropie images with no luck. Between this and the last post, I purchased another PiTFT and pre-soldered Pi Zero from Adafruit and managed to have the PiTFT display to function, but the USB and wifi was dead so it was basically useless. It was partly my fault for not testing the USB and wifi prior to installation of the PiTFT. So I now have three non-functioning Pi Zero/PiTFTs.
