Chipset for LED Matrix and Waterproofing an IR sensor

by Joty1h1h on Mon Apr 09, 2018 7:48 pm

Hey all, I am curious about the product 64x32 RGB LED Matrix - 6mm pitch
PRODUCT ID: 2276. In the datasheet it says the chipset is 3528RGB SMD which
is a chipset that I'm used to seeing on non-addressible strip. Is this
chipset correct or is it something else?

I was also curious about the product IR Break Beam Sensor - 5mm LEDs PRODUCT
ID: 2168, is it waterproof?

Thank you!!

3528 just refers to the package size of the LED chip. Unlike addressable leds such as Neopixels, the drive chips for the matrix are separate from the actual pixels.

The break-beam sensor modules are not waterproof.

Sounds good, thank you! Do you have an IR sensor that is addressable?

This one has an IR channel: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1777
The i2c address is fixed, but you could address multiples using a multiplexer: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2717

Hi there, sorry I realized I mistyped! I meant do you have an IR sensor that is water/weather proof?

The manufacturer has not provided us with any schematics or other documentation on these. Please refer to the guide for what details we know:

Alright, the documentation only mentions driving one board with an Arduino.

Is it possible to drive these boards with the FadeCandy? https://www.adafruit.com/product/1689

No. The fade-candy doesn't support that protocol.
