Bare Strips, Please

I'm using the 90 LED/m side-emitting strips for a project, but space is really tight, so I'm removing the silicone tube and obviously not using the connectors either. Seems kind of wasteful that I'm buying a 1 meter strip, doing a whole bunch of damage to it to get to the part I want. The hot glue and the solder at the ends of the strip make it risky/difficult to use the LEDs at the very ends. Then there's the joint right in the middle of the strip, which I wouldn't want to have in a sub-strip in my project anyway, so I have to skip over it.

Is there any chance you could find a source for the original 50cm flex strips with 45 LEDs that they use to build these and sell those in addition to the 1 meter strips?

These LEDs are pretty expensive at about 30 cents each, so any way to drive down the cost and simplify the build process would be nice.
