Super glue el connector?

Post by 2johnnyburns »

I bought el tape and as I was handling it, one of the connectors came out. Adafruit sent me another section of el tape but I am afraid that it will happen again. Can I fill the heat shrink wrap that covers the connection with super glue to make sure that the connector doesn't fall out? If not, what should I do?

Also, if I cut the el tape, do I need to scotch tape the end that is cut?

Super-glue tends to be rather brittle. A better choice for strain-relief is E6000 adhesive.

It is not absolutely essential to seal the cut end, but it is a good idea to have some protection there against moisture entry and delamination. The exposed end can also give you a mild shock if you manage to touch the exposed ends of the electrodes.
