Kernel delay booting with USB + Serial RGB Backlight Charac

Post by xibeaga »

Hi!

When I plug in "USB + Serial RGB Backlight Character LCD Backpack", my kernel

Linux A 4.14.0-3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.14.13-1 (2018-01-14) x86_64 GNU/Linux

delays the boot REALLY LONG.

[ 5.100088] usb 1-1.1: new full-speed USB device number 3 using ehci-pci
[ 5.209108] usb 1-1.1: New USB device found, idVendor=239a, idProduct=0001
[ 5.209117] usb 1-1.1: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=1, SerialNumber=0
[ 5.209121] usb 1-1.1: Product: Adafruit Industries
[ 37.043282] EXT4-fs (sda1): mounted filesystem with ordered data mode. Opts: (null)

i use a mSATA disk, a Quad-Core AMD GX-412TC SOC cpu and 2GB RAM

Without USB LCD it boots like hurricane

Can you help me?
Thanks a lot!
Best regards,
xibeaga

This Ubuntu bug describes similar symptoms (though not with that device). It appears Linux gets confused with certain USB devices, perhaps due to particular USB controllers as well: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1437492
