RGB led matrix going crazy

by Robvc2 on Wed Jan 16, 2019 7:31 am

Hello everyone,

we recently bought a 16x32 led matrix (RGB) from adafruit for a school project.

we have a weird thing going that some lines go crazy if they are not lighting up.
if we use them than they act normally like they should be.

we are using an arduino uno to program the matrix.

look at the pictures for a more decent view on the problem.

as you can see on the pictures there are 4 lines on the screen doing weird things when they should be off.
you can also see that we don't have this problem when they are light up.

thx for reading this already
and I hope someone can help us out here :)

cheers
Rob

Can you provide a wiring diagram and code? If the code is fairly short, you can post it here with 3 back ticks before and after. Also, which product is it?

You have one of these?
https://www.adafruit.com/product/420
Are following this guide?
https://learn.adafruit.com/32x16-32x32-rgb-led-matrix
And are trying to run this example?
https://github.com/adafruit/RGB-matrix- ... _16x32.ino

How repeatable is that behavior? Is seems like it's an intermittent connection issue, since it starts working at some point.

Can you post a photo of your connections to the back of the display. Also, you connection between the UNO and the display.
