Need Risk Group info on LED strips

by scottbrigham on Tue Aug 06, 2019 9:37 am

We are going to use the 60 LED/meter RGB strip (# 1138) in a product we are designing, for use as an LED alert bar. As part of the product safety process, my product safety steward needs to know the Risk Group that these LEDs fall into (WS2812B and SK6812), and ideally, the IEC62471 reports. I have gotten no response on my request to the LED manufacturers directly (worldsemi and szledcolor). Do you have this info available?

Best regards,
Scott Brigham

Thanks for the replies. The Risk Group is related to eye safety. Do you know if the manufacturers have spec'd the Risk Group for these LEDs? These are listed in IEC62368 and are Exempt Group, Risk Group 1 (low risk), Risk Group 2 (moderate risk) and Risk Group 3 (high risk). I am pretty sure these fall into the Exempt Group or Group 1, but we need some indication from the manufacturer.

Any information would have to come from the manufacturer. We have nothing further.
