DotStar High Density 8x8 Grid and lightship project

by valelapolla on Wed Sep 11, 2019 7:26 am

Hi
last year I made the project lightship (https://learn.adafruit.com/lightship-le ... d-playback ) with DotStar High Density 8x8 Grid and Adafruit Feather M0 Adalogger and everything went well. Now I bought another led matrix and I found a completely different brightness: so I found your notice about the update you made using a new version of the APA102-2020 LEDs with a different brightness curve. I made some tests trying to increase the brightness but it seems that also the colors in the animation look different, is that true? Any suggestion to match the colors/brightness between the two versions of the matrix?
thanks in advance
valentina

to clarify better this is the setting
- Adafruit Feather M0 Adalogger (one for each led matrix)
- Adafruit DotStar High Density 8x8 Grid
https://www.adafruit.com/product/3444
- the software in arduino is this
https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Li ... reamSD.ino
- animation is made in processing with this software
https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit_Li ... noRoll.pde

With the LED matrices of the previous version everything worked perfectly. With this matrix version the colors appear very different and above all with so many differences in brightness between a pixel with one color and another with another color: in short, a mess.
I suspect I have to adjust the gamma / dither tables but I can't figure out how to work.
thanks for any help
