PiTFT 2.8" Capacitive touch not working

by Weasy on Wed Dec 11, 2019 11:00 am

Hi guys!

I'm trying to get the display to work with the newest Volumio image 2.673. I used the easy install script and in combination with the volumio plugin "Touch display" i got the screen working, but touch is not. I get the following error with 'dmesg':
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
edt_ft5x06 1-0038: touchscreen probe failed
edt_ft5x06: probe of 1-0038 failed with error -121

After that i wanted to be sure that the problem is not with the volumio image and installed 2019-04-08-raspbian-stretch.
But there i get the same error, here the dmesg output:
Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE

Hello, I am having the same problem. I am using the original 2.8" capacitive touch PiTFT and a Raspberry Pi 4. I have tried with the latest Raspbian and the one from 2019-09-26, both give the same behaviour, the display works but the touch doesn't. If I run dmesg I get exactly the same output @Weasy got.

Both versions of Raspbian were a fresh install, any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Edit: I forgot to say that I have the original version of the 2.8" capacitive touch PiTFT

What happens when using the version from the guide?
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-2-8 ... d-card-3-4
and after running the installer script?

Thanks for the reply, but I can't use the Raspbian stretch because it doesn't support the Raspberry Pi 4 :(.
Anyway, I will try it tomorrow on an older Raspberry Pi and I will let you know. But I want to fix it in the Raspberry Pi 4 :).

@mompes Please start a new thread for your issue.

@Weasy It's unclear if you ran the installer script when you tried using Raspbian. Did you run that?

Yes, i did at that time. I even tried the Raspbian image with the exact same effect/problem. If you have changed/updated the script since December, then i can try and use it again.
