Needing a drive for ten meters of High Brightness EL

by RyerAppeldoorn on Tue Aug 04, 2020 10:52 pm

Hello,
I have a project where I need to drive ten meters of High Brightness EL Wire.
I need all 10 meters, of three different colors, to be turned on and off with a single switch.
I am also totally uneducated in circuit building so "plug and run" as most of the drivers listed on the Adafruit store seem to be is a necessity.
I do not need to be able to run the 10 meters of wire for a long time, maybe thirty min at the VERY most, more likely 5-10 min at any given time however, I need the portability of battery power.
I also need to build nine versions of this project with a pretty short deadline so hopefully there are nine of the drivers I'd need in stock!
Of the drivers listed in the Adafruit store I don't see any listed that say they could run ten meters of the high brightness EL wire. Any suggestions for what driver I could use before I complete my order?

Thank you!

We do not have any inverters capable of driving 10 meters. I'd check with some of the websites that specialize in EL products. They typically carry a wider selection of inverters.

For example, https://www.coolight.com/product-p/hv-ifw-5681-2k.htm
(I have no experience with that particular inverter, though.)

Thank you for the help!
Is Adafruit's EL wire, CLHB model wire?
The suggested inverter says it is for CLHB model wire only but, I am not sure what that means!

Thank you again!

"CLHB" refers to their "Cool Light High Bright" brand of high brightness EL wire. Most of the EL wire we carry is High Brightness wire. It will be identified as such in the product description.
