I am waiting for responses to that thread. My specific question here was what is the process for dealing with a defective product (if it turns out to be the case). Could you please respond to that question?

Hello,

The outcome of my thread with Dave is that the board is functional but the backlight is not. So the graphics are being displayed but can not be seen. I am very disappointed as I am in Canada and this screen cost me a fortune in currency exchange and duty. I wanted to support Adafruit instead of buying form China and now I am out a lot of money.

It looks like Dave authorized a free replacement. You can email support and Adafruit will send you another display.
