dynamic gamma correction

by Rcayot on Fri Sep 04, 2020 10:41 am

I have seen a few posts suggesting that calculating gamma corrections is slow, and that a lookup table is more suited. I think this was before many newer and faster processors were available. I was wondering if the Metro M4 express was powerful enough to compute gamma corrections on the fly while running say 150 LEDs on a 30 LED/m 5m long.

Any help would be appreciated.

It would depend on how fast you need to update those pixels. An M4 can do a fair amount of math in the time it takes an Atmega 328 can do the lookup. But a lookup table will always be faster. And the M4 also has a lot more memory than the 328.
