Adafruit Matrix Portal Connector

by captadhoc on Thu Oct 08, 2020 10:38 am

I am working on a project and don't want to mount an Adafruit Matrix Portal directly to the display. What cable is needed for this connection?

This should work: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/3m/M3DYK-2006J/236863. Just be sure to get the MatrixPortal the right way around in the socket end. This is a 6" cable. You didn't say how long.

Alternatively, did your matrix display come with a female-female ribbon cable? I believe they are for chaining displays, but you could desolder the female header from the portal and put in male header so you could use that cable. Again, you'd have to be careful to get the orientation right. That would give you the option og connecting the cable to the front or back which might be useful.
