Chained panels with Matrix Portal?

by bibulb on Fri Oct 16, 2020 11:09 pm

So, a quick toss-off question :
If I wanted to use two chained matrices with a Matrix Portal, how would I define that panel(s) in CircuitPython? Or Arduino, for that matter? Do I just say "32 rows by 128 columns" instead of the normal "32 by 64", or do I need to define separate actual panels in a chain, or what?

(I'll cop to the fact that I really just want a HUGE space to run Conway's Life on.)

@bibulb,

Pretty much what you guessed.

Arduino:

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
#define WIDTH   64 // Display width in pixels
#define HEIGHT  64 // Display height in pixels

=====

CircuitPython:

Code: Select all | TOGGLE FULL SIZE
matrix = rgbmatrix.RGBMatrix(
    width=64, height=32, bit_depth=1,
    rgb_pins=[board.D6, board.D5, board.D9, board.D11, board.D10, board.D12],
    addr_pins=[board.A5, board.A4, board.A3, board.A2],
    clock_pin=board.D13, latch_pin=board.D0, output_enable_pin=board.D1)
display = framebufferio.FramebufferDisplay(matrix, auto_refresh=False)
