Loading Adafruit_EPD

by lucentinian on Mon Nov 09, 2020 12:20 pm

Hi team!

Do you know how much capacity do I need to load Adafruit_EPD module with CircuitPython for an e-ink related project? Can an ItsyBitsy M0 Express handle that or do I need a bigger one?

Thank you in advance!

If you are drawing bitmaps and using CircuitPython we recommend a Feather M4 Express it has double the memory of the Feather M0 Express 512KB vs 256KB.

You may need a board with more memory such as the Feather M4 or Metro M4 to handle the memory requirements of drawing a bitmap.

Thank you for your support @mikeysklar! I've got recently an ItsyBitsy M0 Express then I've tried to use the modules for e-ink. When CircuitPython wanted to load adafruit_il0373 module, it ended with MemoryError. However, I've moved to Arduino sketches for development and now I can draw in the e-ink display.

Good solution moving to Arduino if you do not mind coding in C. I should have mentioned that, but I usually avoid trying to shift people to another programming language from what they requested. I'll make sure to point that out next time. Congrats.
