So i purchased the conway game of life kit put everything together but the negative pad for the battery pack either appears to be sealed or theres something inside i can't get out. i got the positive wire in fine but when i tried the negative it wouldn't go in apon further inspection i see that the hole is blocked. i thought maybe some solder got in so i used my solder wick to get it out.

ive been using the wick and iron for the past 20 minutes and whatever is inside if still there. now im thinking its an issue with the board when it was made maybe one of the traces wouldn't made correctly. i do notice that part of the pad on the front side of the board seems to be missing. pictures included.

Have you tried to solder the wires directly to the pads? Also, it looks like you could use the C2 holes to connect the power.

hmm i have not. so for the positive wire i can insert that one but for negative just solder it directly on? ill try it.

ive tried to solder directly to the pad it won't stick. can someone from adafruit please email me? ive sent a message to support@adafruit.com

It looks like you should be able to solder on these pads. If you can't please post a picture of that problem. Thanks.
