Vertical Lines on half of a pimoroni inky phat red

by rlundstrum on Tue Jan 05, 2021 7:14 pm

I recently purchased and installed a red pimoroni inky phat red (invoice 2443372, part no 3742). The first program I ran, Hello My Name is Inigo Montoya, from https://learn.pimoroni.com/tutorial/sandyj/getting-started-with-inky-phat to try it out did not work as expected. Half of the screen has vertical lines and a small irregular section in the corner did not update at all from the original image. Right now it is on a Raspberry Pi Zero W with Raspberry OS and I have tried it on a Pi 3B+ with the same results.

See picture, what is going on?

I have found that sometimes these displays need to "break in". Try refreshing it every few minutes for a while. Let me know if there's no change.

Ok, I ran the calendar example and set crontab to update every 5 minutes. It ran overnight and all day. As of right now, it still looks the same.

OK, Please email support@adafruit.com with a link to this thread, your order number, and request the replacement of one pimoroni inky phat red (part no 3742).
