Data sheet problems for NeoPixels

by mcandre on Fri Jun 11, 2021 5:31 pm

Hi,

The data sheet given for NeoPixels has some problems. Lots of typos. But mainly, the document is unclear to a novice what the minimum power voltage is. Is it 5V, or 3.7V, or 6V? Because I find all of these vague answers on the Adafruit documentation.

We don't write the datasheets. They come from the manufacturers of the devices. And since many of these devices are designed and manufactured abroad, the English translation may not be perfect.

Like all datasheets, they represent the manufacturer's design criteria and intended utilization of the device. Operation outside those specifications may be possible. For example, although the manufacturer has designed the chips used for Neopixels for 5v operation, we have found that they will work reliably down to 3.7v. Our best advice regarding these devices can be found in the guide: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-neopixel-uberguide

The data sheet for bq24074 appears to have a typo regarding part identifiers. They say "bq23074" at one point, even though all of the parts described in the data sheet have a bq24... prefix.

The bq24074 is not even remotely related to the Neopixels referenced in your topic. But yes, there is one passing reference to a bq23074 in the datasheet. Your question is best directed to TI which is the manufacturer of the device and publisher of the datasheet.
