NeoPixel flashing during PWM motor running Pi

Post by DustyBlagden »

Hi all,

As per the title i have 2 x 12 RGBW rings connected through a level shifter to a pi, all working perfectly so far.

On the same system i have a cytron MD10C to drive a fan motor.
My issue is that when i run the motor on with PWM i get odd color flashes, white/blue, during a red colored sequence.
I've bought an ABElectronics Servo PWM board to see if separating it onto an I2C interface would stop the issue but it seems to be persistent.
Like i say if the motor is off the lights function perfectly so im unsure as to how that could be affecting the lights from here.

Any clues would be much appreciated.

It could be an electrical noise issue.

See https://www.pololu.com/docs/0J15/9 for some thing to try to reduce electrical noise from the motor.
