1.69" 280x240 Round Rectangle Color IPS TFT Displ- ST7789 PI

Post by behanson »

The display worked for about 20 minutes and then became very sporadic. Running the "graphicstest" code provided. I did solder a header on the display and am using a proto board to make the jumper connections to the Arduino. Have tested all the jumpers, inspected sold connections, ran with two different Arduino boards. What I see is it works a bit once powered on but goes black before the test sequence is completed.

Any ideas of what to look at would be greatly appreciated

Brad

Could be a connection issue. Can you post a photo of your setup showing how everything is connected.

Three photos attached

I Have tested all the jumpers, replaced them with new jumpers, inspected solder connections, and ran with two different Arduino boards. When I scope the SPI interface there is activity. Sometimes it works a bit but goes black before the test sequence is completed. Rerunning the sequence I do get a quick display of black at white noise and sometimes a faint flash.
Thanks

Brad

Thanks for the photos. What style headers pins are you using here?

Are they the "regular" style headers similar to these?

Ah, OK. Thanks. That explains why they look a little higher than normal on that side.

The soldering looks fine. You've checked jumpers. How about moving to a different position on the breadboard? Did you try that?

I did a continuity test on the jumpers and tried a different position on the proto board. Still not working
I get this image for a moment at some point in the graphics test

OK, let's just replace it. Not seeing anything obvious that could explain what is happening. Thanks for all the photos and info.

Send an email to [email protected] with a link to this thread and your order number and they can send you a replacement TFT.
