i2c/SPI character LCD backpack with Speeduino

Post by Shreyas_p »

Hi!

This post is specifically to do with using an LCD display with Speeduino (an arduino based open source ECU: https://speeduino.com/home/).
The I2C library used to control LCD displays doesn't work with the speeduino as it interferes with the schedulers/interrupts in the speeduino firmware (https://speeduino.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3682, https://speeduino.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1066).
However, many say that SPI libraries work fine and the firmware itself has a sample code for an adafruit *OLED display*.

I am looking to buy the *i2c/SPI character LCD backpack* from adafruit (product ID: 292) for this reason but want to confirm that it will work with the speeduino without any hiccups.

Thanks in advance!

I've seen very few posts about working with speeduino in our forums. If you know your i2c will be an issue I think it is still worth trying an SPI display. You can always do a parallel LCD connection as well.
