OLED Breakout Board - Dead pixels

I recently bought the OLED Breakout Board - 16-bit Color 1.5" (https://www.adafruit.com/product/1431). When running the out-of-the-box demo code I observe a number of dead/dim pixels:

In addition to the dead column, there are a couple dim rects in the upper right corner that are also faintly apparent.

I can't imagine it's anything but a manufacturing defect, but adasupport asked me to post this info here...

I've seen odd things at times with new displays. I suggest letting the demo run overnight and see if that improves the situation. If not, report back.

Unfortunately, the display didn't repair itself overnight.
