Item in question: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2396
I recently bought a 7 inch HDMI display for use with a Raspberry Pi 400 running Raspbian. I have specified a size using the config.txt file from the Überguide for HDMI Displays. (I placed it in the root of the SD card.) I plugged in all aspects of the display, using all of the given “Also include in order” items. I plugged in the Raspberry Pi’s HDMI and power cord, and turned the display on using the PCB board (pressed power button to turn LED on PCB green > yellow + pressed source button until LED turned green. The display still didn’t turn on. I checked all the cables using other devices around my house that used the same type of cable to charge/turn on. Every cable worked in every scenario I tested them in. I then brought the Raspberry Pi to my other monitor and hooked it up. It fully worked, and I was able to access my desktop and use applications normally. Would I be able to return this? (I am aware your policy says that opened items cannot be returned, but I believe this item might be defective.)
-Thanks,

Is it the product 2407? Can you post a picture of the back? If it is defective you can return it so don't worry, we will support it.

Sorry, I meant the back of the actual, non-working display.

The back of the display is shown in the bottom of the image above. There wasn’t anything on it save for the sticker shown, so I didn’t deem it important to show the whole backside.

Re: 7 Inch Display w/Touchscreen Refuses to Turn On
it should at least power up and show a blue screen, even with no HDMI. does it do that? can you check the FPC connector next to the screen, maybe reseat it if it came loose in shipping

I have now pushed both of them a far in as I can. It still will not display anything, even a blue screen.

Re: 7 Inch Display w/Touchscreen Refuses to Turn On
Update:
I got the new display and it worked... for a bit. It was great when it worked! However, after a few minutes it showed a screen of (I guess you could say "static"), then turned off. After turning it back on again, it no longer displayed even a blue screen and displayed almost a down-falling gradient of white to black. After a minute, it would display complete black. I have no idea what happened, but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, ShatteredDisk

Re: 7 Inch Display w/Touchscreen Refuses to Turn On
I’m really sorry, I don’t even know what’s happening. The second one worked for a bit before it broke, and I didn’t do anything to it that triggered it to break at that moment. I was holding it, looked away for a second, and the next thing I knew it was displaying pure static. I promise I’m really not trying to break these and I can also send it back to be looked at.
Thanks, ShatteredDisk

I haven’t gotten a response yet, would I be able to get a refund or a replacement?
