EL wire coin cell mini inverter not working

I purchased a EL wire coin cell mini inverter to power a 10in EL wire tape strip in a project. I put a new battery in and can't get the tape to light up When i plug the tape into a 2AA inverter it works great. I'm thinking i got a dud.

Any advice is appreciated.

Are you sure you have the battery inserted the right way?
Does the inverter buzz/whine/whistle at all?

I tried the battery both ways and nothing either way...no noise or any sign of life

The coin cell inverter can't power that much EL tape! It can power 10 CM, not INCHES!

I am having the same issue with the EL Wire Coin Cell Mini Inverter and High Brightness Aqua Electroluminescent wire. It is cut to about 5 inches and I can not get it to work. I have bought 2 and they both do not work.
