I'm in the same boat here....New PI 3, PiTFT 3.5", and Rainbow Screen of Death when I try to easy install. Not it major rush but in my research....it appears this dude in Australia figured out a solution to get the Pi3 running with an Adafruit 3.5" TFT (custom kernel he built). He has instructions on how to get it running...but it felt kinda shady downloading his custom kernel (I'll wait for the adafruit fix).

Maybe Adafruit could haller at this dude and see whats what : )

Adafruit moderator said "it doesn't work right now...will post update on Blog" on page one Salmanslim. If there is a working kernel and image...I'd sure love to have it : )

Hey Rick, I think my issue revolves around Kali. I've got a Pi 3 and I downloaded the Kali 2.1.2 ARM image (only one available from the OSCP site) and followed the easy and detailed install post from you guys https://learn.adafruit.com/kali-linux-on-the-raspberry-pi-with-the-pitft/installing-kali. While it is of note that you guys were using a pi 2 and Kali ARM version 1.1.0, are you guys going to be taking a look at version 2.1.2 sometime soon?

Thanks Dude,

no plans for looking at Kali again - it isnt a supported distro, we just thought it would be fun to try out! we're focused on fixing support for Pi 3 + Jessie (which has no ETA but we're working on it! :)

Hello,
you used the abbreviations DTO and ETA, please translate them for me.
Thanks KEgg

ETA = Estimated Time of Arrival (completion)
DTO = Device Tree Overlay
