crickit (with microbit) and external button

Is it possible to program an external button (not one on the microbit - I know how to do that), plugged into Signal 1 to turn on an LED (or more)? I have the button in Signal 1 and the LED in Signal 8 and trying to program so when I press the button it turns on the LED but I am doing something wrong. Reaching out for help. Can't find anything online... Thank you!

Can you let us know what you are using for the code and what you are seeing? Also, how are you connecting the button and LED? Posting pictures can help.

Thank you. Here are a few pics. I honestly am not sure how to do it... so this is my attempt at figuring it out. So I want to press a button on the Crickit to activate something like an LED. If you can guide me in the right direction that would be so helpful. Thanks.
