ok; Good news, sortof!
on the pcb board where I soldered the speaker directly to the board, with much wiggling I'm getting sound!!!
on the pcb board where the speaker is soldered with the wire, no joy, silence.

Re: Drawdio - need some eyes
Here's what I'd like to do.
I'd like to send you the one I assembled without luck and then, you can have a look-see and send me a replacement if it's truly the kit versus operator error on my part.
Is that ok?

ok sounds like a soldering issue, we don't do debugging by mail, so maybe check your speaker wiring/soldering, see if you can spot the problem there!

Re: Drawdio - need some eyes
I'm back. I've made another try. Oh gosh, I hope you can help. On the last two from last month I was only able to get some sound on one of them but when I used the copper tape and attached it to a pencil, nothing happened.
Today I did a new build and when I tested prior to soldering I got some sound. But now that the pencil is attached with copper wire, nothing.
When I squeeze the bottom of the pencil with the copper wire, I hear noise but if I write with the pencil, nothing happens, even when I'm holding on tight to that copper wire.
I'm very eager to get this to work and the last drawdio pack I purchased was a five pack. I only have one left to try and build sooooo.
If you guys can help me that would be terrific.

sounds like the board works, there's just a disconnection somewhere. try touching the board/copper tape pencil until you find where the connectivity was 'lost'! :)

Re: Drawdio - need some eyes
you guys are great! such a prompt response!
OK. when I touch the copper tape near the end of the pencil that has the thumbtack in it. All is good, noise and whistles and bells!
When I touch the copper tape at the bottom, it's inconsistent. Sometimes whistles but sometimes nothing. And always nothing when I try to write with it.
Now, I did solder the tape to the pcb board on both ends.
Curiouser and curiouser.

Re: Drawdio - need some eyes
Well, when I hold the top of the pencil I can play out music and rhythms on the bottom part of the copper and the copper doesn't look cracked. Should I go ahead and try new copper though? Also, I soldered the copper tape on top and bottom is there anyway that could have a negative effect on the finished product?

I think so. It is soundless when I write but makes a sound when I touch copper at the top and copper at the bottom, or just copper at the top.

You might need to check the polarity of the capacitor, in one of the boards it may be backwards

Re: Drawdio - need some eyes
In my pursuit to finally get this going, I bought two pre-built kits; Hoping to at least get these running.
When I press on both sides of the PCB board, sound comes out,
When I write with the pencil, nothing, radio silence.
What am I doing wrong?
