How much power for CPX Neopixel

by Skateirie90 on Wed Jul 01, 2020 1:29 pm

Hello,

I wanted to set up my CPX with Coin batteries but could not figure out how much power I need to run the board. I read that you should not use more than 5V for the Neopixels. Does this apply in general for the board? Can I power my board using this [https://www.amazon.com/CR2032-SDTC-Tech-2xCR2032-Battery/dp/B07QW1HMQJ/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=coin+battery+JST&qid=1593623580&s=electronics&sr=1-2]sort of power supply[/url] and solder on my own JST connector? Hi Skateirie90,

The CR2032 stacked enclosure you linked to would output over 6v so it is not a usable solution.

Any reason not to just use the USB micro port and power from a USB stick power bank?

The CPX has 10 NeoPixels so at full current (60mA each) all out white bright they would draw a maximum of 600mA, but normally much less.
