How Bridge Rectifiers Work

by DERFelectronics on Wed Sep 23, 2020 12:28 pm

Hello Everyone,

https://www.derf.com/how-a-bridge-rectifier-works-step-by-step-tutorial/

I wanted to share some educational content, I have put together on Bridge Rectifiers. This is educational content that is for beginners who are learning about electronics, or students studying - on there way to becoming future Electrical Engineers.

If you are not a beginner maybe share with someone who is!

Hope everyone enjoys it!!

[in Figure 3. ] the positive half cycle will charge the capacitor via the diodes D2 and D3. And, during the negative half cycle, the capacitor will stop charging and will begin to discharge itself through the load resistor.

This is wrong, isn't it? During the negative half-cycle, the cap charges through the other two diodes.
And it's always discharging.

The "types of bridges" seems both brief and "mysterious." I've never heard of a "controlled bridge rectifier", and still don't have any idea why one would want one.
