RESET CIRCUIT PLAYGROUND

Post by TDemps »

We just got new circuit playground and are trying to use them in the classroom. First step is we inserted the USB cord into the computers (chromebooks and MacBook Air). Our Circuit playground flashes rainbow colored lights. We are instructed to click reset (click on or even when we double click the reset button) and should see all green lights but we are always seeing rainbow. We can't get past this step. We have tried holding the reset button down and #13 flashes red. Any suggestions on how to get all 18 of our circuit playgrounds up and running?

First - let's verify which Circuit Playground version you have. Which one of these are you using?

Classic:

Express:

Thanks for the photos. That is a Circuit Playground Classic:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/3000

So be sure to follow this guide:

When you double press the reset button, does the little red LED labeled #13 next to the USB connector pulse on/off?

Yes, When I pressed the reset button twice, #13 blinks on and off.

OK, that's the bootloader mode. For the Classic, the NeoPixel ring won't actually light up. Looks like there was text in the guide that said that, but it was wrong. It's been removed. Must have snuck in from elsewhere (the other Circuit Playgrounds do have that behavior). If you find any other text like that, let us know and we'll update the guide.

So the board seems OK. Try following that linked guide and see how far along you can get. If you run into other issues, can post back here with specifics.
