Beaglebone Touchscreen Getting Started

by 59SpriteDriver on Fri Oct 07, 2016 4:55 pm

I have been developing a project using the pcDuino3 and a 7" HDMI touchscreen. Issues with the touchscreen make it appear that the Beaglebone Black may be a better solution. Could anyone tell me the best touchscreen to use with the Beaglebone and what all I need to purchase to get started developing? The project will also have a custom designed cape in addition to the touchscreen.

Thanks.

Here is a 7" display that should work with the BeagleBone:

HDMI 4 Pi: 7" Display w/Touchscreen 1024x600 w/ Mini Driver
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2396
"For use with a BeagleBone Black running Ubuntu/Debian, we found it works when plugged in, no configuration required."

Unfortunately, Android is not well supported on the BeagleBone and I would not advise it. There is a list of boards on 96boards.org that are a better fit for Android: https://www.96boards.org/products/ce/

If you really do want to try Android on the BeagleBone, then this is the most recent documentation that I am aware of:
https://eewiki.net/display/AOA/BeagleBone+Black

There is also a BeagleBoard.org community mailing list that may be of interest:
