Adafruit I2S 3W Stereo Speaker Bonnet for Raspberry Pi

by Cgreenwell on Fri Aug 23, 2019 4:46 pm

Well I have tried to put everything back as it was, and thanks for helping me with that.
Everything worked fine until the big crash. Now the sound works only on a test in Terminal but not from code. I have a suspicion it's in the Raspi-config. Attached are photos of the error messages I'm getting in Config.

The settings in `raspi-config` should be independent of anything related to the I2S amplifier. The files listed in the tutorial are where you handle that information:

Thanks.
I'm on it. I thought I tried everything, but it appears I overlooked something.
I'll let you know.

Hi Mike. Thanks for your fast reply.
Hmmm, well now I'm stuck here. I get this message and can't get rid of it.
I got this after following the instructions you suggested and I'm stuck here. Where did I go wrong?
Are you going to take over for Carter?

Thanks again Mike.

Carter is out for a couple of days, so I'll pick up until he gets back.. we aren't territorial.

The message you're getting looks like it's related to screen sharing, and that would be related to your VNC setup.

Can you log into the RasPi with ssh, or directly with a keyboard and monitor?

Update:
Shift key at reboot. I have choices ... "Install" ..... "Edit config" (this one I bet) .... "Exit". I see that Install wipes out everything, so I don't think it's that one.
I did see something, while researching, that had to do with editing a file by removing or adding # to this that and the other.

"Door one, two or three?"

Hmm.. are you using NOOBs, or the standard version of Raspbian?

Because I was having so many issues with my own SD card, trying to "put Humphrey Dumpty back together", I bought a new SD card, preloaded, from you folks last week or so, to make sure that issue wasn't in the equation. So to answer your question, I don't know.

Thanks

Here's where I'm at.
I can boot in safe mode and I get the NOOBS install screen that has "edit config.txt".
I found the attached site that looks promising but I'm not sure what, if anything, what to do.
However, this may be the WRONG place to be messing with.

Try using the latest version of the baseline Raspbian OS image:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/

There are instructions for writing the image to an SD card on the page if you need them.

NOOBs has some configuration issues that make it harder to deal with than the regular version.

O.K., I'm a little confused.
As I mentioned I bought the pre-installed SD card to get the latest version. (It was advertised "will work with new Pi 4".)
Now you tell me I need to reinstall it. Hmm.
Could you perhaps point me in the direction that, brought you to this conclusion please. I would just like to see what caused this error.

Thanks
Chuck

Here's where I"m stuck.
I got here by pressing the shift key (enter rescue mode). So, you still feel the only option is to reload? I have started over so many times with this project I'm thinking of abandoning it all together.
Gosh, I'm so frustrated. It's not your fault. You and Adafruit have been EXTREMELY helpful and tolerant.
I'll look a little more.
Thanks again

O.K.
Can you at least tell me if it's in the code for the Pi, Motor Hat, Servo hat or the Speaker bonnett please.
